Nature Club

The next project in the works is setting up a Nature club at Jamestown Clinic in Sequim and OMC in Port Angeles to be held once a week after school. Children from the clinic and community will be able to be referred to these clubs with the objective to get kids exposed to nature while at the same time increase their exercise and learn about healthy habits. It is hoped that throughout the year the program could be augmented with interactive sessions with professionals specializing in nutrition, environmental stewardship, etc.

Update

The first set of providers trained for the program happened adding 26 more persons into the pool of those who can refer children into programs designed to get them more active and healthy. The next provider training will include providers from the community and hoped to be either in December or January.

The Boys and Girls Club of Sequim started their Healthy Habits Club as an after school program starting. This is being held every Tuesday and Thursday for 11 weeks.  The goal was to educate kids about their overall health and give them tools to be healthier people.  Larri Ann Mishko, D.O. helped organize the group of 20 kids in association with staff at the Boys and Girls Club.
